Road Trip San Diego - City Lights Collectibles Christmas Store

It's that time of year again when many of us cannot wait to decorate our homes (inside and out) for the holidays. Soon we will be pulling out all our totes and boxes filled with all things Christmas from our attics and garages. Shiny ornaments and baubles, lights and let's not forget those crazy yard ornaments that we purchased after Christmas last year for 90% off,  stored and packed away for 11 months in anticipation of the day we would get to use them again or for the very first time and welcome in the Holiday Season.

I am always looking at Christmas decorations no matter if I know I have enough or not and this year was no exception!  Here in Southern California we have so many great places to shop for Christmas decorations, but nothing like CITY LIGHTS in San Diego! I have already been there three times this year and Friday was my latest road trip there with three of my girlfriends. Located near Sea World and not too far form Old Towne, City Lights is definitely a day trip you have got to take.

"The Pursuit of Happiness"

Living in Southern California has many advantages. There are so many beaches, tons of shopping and I would be remiss if I did not mention Disneyland, LEGO LAND, Knott's Berry Farm and the San Diego Zoo. But, away from the hustle and bustle of all the theme parks, zoos and shopping malls is another destination to put on your bucket list. The Pageant of the Masters in Laguna Beach! Thus, the name of my post today, "The Pursuit of Happiness". Which happens to be the Pageants theme this year.

For the past 10 years my husband and I have enjoyed attending the Pageant. An incredible 90 minutes of "Live Art". Real people, adults and children, posing to look like original paintings by renowned artists. Narrated and accompanied by a full orchestra, you will enjoy the work of hundreds of volunteers over hundreds of hours of preparation for what I can only describe as cotton candy for the eyes in a large outdoor amphitheater.

We enjoyed this year's theme "The Pursuit of Happiness" where we looked into what makes us happy in life now and what made people happy in life in the past. If you ever get a chance to come to California or you live here already and have never experienced the Pageant get your tickets early for the best seats (I overheard a patron saying she purchased her tickets in December!). The Pageant runs from early July to the end of August!

Color Crush - INDIGO

INDIGO, my new favorite color. Thought of at one time to be masculine, dark and just another deep blue, Indigo is bold, complicated, vibrant and full of drama. Mix Indigo with light colors and get a classic look or pair it with bright colors and you get a modern look.  I love the bold look of indigo against a crisp white. Think Indigo walls with white porcelain vases. There is so much you can do with Indigo. I have come across a ton of indigo fabrics lately ranging from Shibori, Block Prints and Ikats. to Wovens, Velvets and prints, Indigo is the new go to blue. Where are you going to use it?
